Holiday Spotlight

Father's Day 16, 2024

Father's Day was first celebrated on June 19th in 1910 in Washington (the state, not the city). However, it was not made official til after 1972, nearly 58 years after Mother's day. On July 5, 1908 a West Virgina church had the first event to only honor fathers in memory of the 362 men who died in a coal mine explosion in Monongah, but that was a one time commemoration.
